Abstract

|
Guanidine extracts of Bacillus anthracis cell wall were used to vaccinate BALB/c mice and to develop monoclonal antibody (MAb). Three hybridomas (S4E2, S1B9, and S5D9) selected which appear to be directed to an epitope associated with
thegalactose-N-acetylglucosamine polysaccharide. After conjugation to fluorescein isothiocyanate. the MAbs stained intensely all B. anthracis strains tested, whereas none of the strains of 18 other Bacillus spp. was stained.
